Join us on Sunday mornings (Adult Forum) at 9:40 in the Fireside Room
Or Wednesday evenings (Faith Quest) at 5:30 in the Fellowship Hall
Martin Luther was a prolific writer. Historians have speculated that he prepared somewhere in the neighborhood of 4,000 sermons, published dozens of theological treatises, and left behind transcripts of more than 600 lectures. His writings deal with topics including theology, Biblical study, congregational life, and politics. But among them the mostly widely read and studied work is his Small Catechism, published in 1529 as a resource for parents to deepen their own understanding of Christian faith, and to share it with their children. It continues, today, to shape the ministries that many Lutheran churches offer for students (often Middle School aged) who enter into Catechetical (or Confirmation) studies.
This year, during Sunday mornings Adult Forum and Wednesday evenings Faith Quest, we will take an in-depth look at Martin Luthers Small Catechism. We invite anyone who is interested to join us. Guided by the Augsburg Fortress book By Heart we will focus our conversations around scripture and tradition, Luthers insights into the Christian life, and the backstory of Luthers own life and beliefs. For anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of Martin Luthers theology, and how it shapes the church that has taken his name, this is a great place to begin!
Join us on Sunday mornings beginning March 8, or Wednesday evenings beginning March 11. For more information about this seven week series, reach out to Pastor Dave, or give us a call in the church office.
